The San Juan City local government convened its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) on Wednesday night, May 24, to tackle preparations for the incoming typhoon with international name Mawar, which will later be called Betty once it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora spearheaded the meeting together with other city government officials and the CDRRMC led by Tong Pacasum.
According to Zamora, Pacasum gave updates on the movement and strength of Typhoon Mawar as it inches closer to the country.
During the meeting, we ensured the readiness of our city government and first responders even before the typhoon hits us. These include making sure that all pumping stations are working to avoid flooding especially in the low-lying areas in San Juan. We also tackled the preparedness of our city social services which will provide San Juaneños with all their necessities once evacuation needs to be enforced such as our evacuation centers, food, water, medicines, and other emergency essentials)," he added.
The mayor urged the public to listen to news and updates regarding the typhoon and be prepared for its harsh effects.
