Pasay LGU installs olyset nets in public school classrooms vs dengue
The Pasay City government installed "olyset nets" or mosquito nets in the city’s public school classrooms to help stop dengue this rainy season.
According to Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano, olyset nets are long-lasting insecticide nets made with hybrid polymer and controlled insecticide release technology to repel, kill, and prevent mosquitoes from biting humans.
Rubiano said the city government procured the nets for P15 million. They are being installed in all the 1,431 classrooms around the city’s public schools to prevent dengue-carrying mosquitoes from biting school children.
She said the city government already installed olyset nets in almost 100 percent of the city’s classrooms.
The mayor visited the Timoteo Elementary School along Apelo Cruz Street, Malibay, Pasay City on Thursday, May 25, to ensure that the nets were properly installed.
In connection with the Department of Health (DOH) program on dengue prevention, Rubiano issued a memorandum order to school heads, barangay officials, and business establishments to practice the 4 o’clock habit.
Rubiano said the 4 o’clock daily habit consists of measures that can save lives; and to search and destroy mosquito-breeding places in the hope of stopping the spread of dengue.
