Man nabbed for brandishing gun in public in Malabon

Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) operatives arrested a man for carrying a gun in public in Barangay Longos, Malabon City on Thursday, May 25.

Col. Amante Daro, MCPS chief, identified the the suspect as Loyd Villagomez, 40, a resident of Barangay 18, Caloocan City.

According to the report, the police were conducting routine patrol in the barangay when a concerned citizen approached them and reported about the suspect who was allegedly brandishing his firearm at the corner of Lapu-Lapu and Pampano Streets, sowing fear among residents and passersby.

The operatives responded and saw the  suspect holding a caliber .38 revolver. Villagomez was arrested around 4:30 a.m.

Seized from the suspect were a caliber .38 revolver Smith and Wesson (Snub nose) and two live ammunition.

Villagomez is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act," which prohibits the unlawful acquisition or possession of ammunition and penalizes the offense with a minimum prison term of six to twelve years.
