Elderly widow dies after being hit by truck in Lucena City

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A 67-year-old widow died after a delivery truck bumped her while crossing the street in Barangay Ibabang Dupay in this city on Thursday morning, May 25. Police report identified the victim as Adela Esguerra, a resident of Purok Atis, Barangay Mayo Crossing, here. The truck driver was identified as Ryan Siatriz, 36, a resident of Sitio Bacungan Castañas, Sariaya, Quezon. The incident happened around 9:30 a.m. when the suspect, who was traversing Barangay Dalahican, hit the victim while crossing the street. The victim was brought to Saint Ann General Hospital by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) rescue team but was declared dead. The truck driver was arrested and is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
