A treatment facility for substance abuse and behavioral issues called A New Day Village Inc. (ANDVI) celebrated its soft opening in Biñan, Laguna, last weekend.

ANDVI is the second treatment center initiated by cofounders Jun Tan, Joel Chavez, and Joey Ibañez, who previously opened their first treatment facility, TCI Village, in Alfonso, Cavite, in 2016. TCI Village is recognized by the Department of Health as a top facility for behavioral treatment with a multidisciplinary program.

Described in its logo as “The Shelter for Change,” ANDVI can accommodate 200 patients or “residents” on its 5,000-square-meter property – twice the capacity of TCI Village.

“We’ll be able to help more people from all walks of life with our socialized pricing… Yan ang advocacy talaga natin, makatulong sa mas maraming tao (That is our advocacy – to help more people),” ANDVI facility director Tan said in a statement.

Tan told the Manila Bulletin that residents accepted for treatment at ANDVI stand to benefit from its holistic approach, with a team of psychologists, psychiatrists, and staff implementing a program that includes processing behavior, reinforcing values, and awakening spirituality.

“Here, the residents learn about themselves as we guide them to develop their coping skills or life skills, which they can apply when they reintegrate themselves with society… They learn how to handle problems, dysfunctions in the family, and addictive behavior. What’s important is we provide continuous care. When they get out, they still get our support,” Tan shared.

ANDVI’s residents, who are either endorsed to the center or come voluntarily, undergo the facility’ live-in treatment program from one year to 15 months.

“We exert effort on relapse prevention. The whole family is involved in the program. Residents are here not just to rest or to be isolated, but to accept they have an addiction and a desire to overcome the disease,” Tan said.

Tan, who has been running rehabilitation facilities for 22 years, says ANDVI is all about “finding purpose in life, relearning how valuable life is, and practicing humility and gratitude.”
