Ogie Diaz tells young social media stars: 'Enjoy fan bashing'

At a glance

  • Always remember, when you meet seniors, greet them and introduce yourself to them. So that they will not forget you either. You are not the one who will be approached because you are famous. You should respect them.

Vlogger Ogie Diaz, former talent manager of Liza Soberano, shared his unsolicited advice to young stars, telling them to be humble and enjoy being bashed on social media.

During the first anniversary of the PIE Channel held in Quezon City recently, Ogie also encouraged young influencers to respect the seniors.

"Be humble. Alam ko mga reaktora kayo dahil may mga social media kayo. Enjoy ninyo yung bashing. Huwag kayong iiyak. Kasi pag wala ng nagbash sa inyo, hindi na kayo relevant. Di bale sana kung bawa't post ninyo pinapansin. Ang mga bata ngayon nakakaloka. Kada comment lang sa kanila meron na silang reply. Nagre-react na agad sila. My God! Inubos mo na lahat ng oras mo sa nagko-komento sayo," said Ogie.

(Be humble. I know you react so much because you have social media accounts. Enjoy the bashing. Don't cry. Because if no one bashes you, you are no longer relevant. Kids these days react immediately. My God! You've wasted all your time making comments.)

"Enjoy the bashing. You look at the brighter side nung bashing sa inyo. Ibig sabihin n'yan, nakaka-apekto kayo ng buhay ng ibang tao. Pero huwag naman kayong lalampas sa guhit ha. Huwag kayong magpapapansin. May ibang influencer na nagpapapansin. Magkaroon lang kayo motivation.

(Enjoy the bashing. You look at the brighter side when you are being bashed. That means you affect other people's lives. But don't cross the line. Don't be an attention-seeker. There are other influencers who seek attention. Be motivated.)

"Lagi ninyong tatandaan, kung sino yung mga seniors na nakakasalubong ninyo, babatiin ninyo at magpapakilala kayo sa kanila. Para hindi rin nila kayo makalimutan. Hindi yung kayo ang lalapitan dahil kayo ang sikat. Nandito kayo sa industry dapat kayo ang magbigay-pugay," Ogie said.

(Always remember, when you meet seniors, greet them and introduce yourself to them. So that they will not forget you either. You are not the one who will be approached because you are famous. You should respect them.)

Ogie said that he's thankful for the opportunity to host the show "Kung Saka-Sakali" which he said is good for his mental health.

"Para na rin ito sa aking mental health. Nakakatulong rin ito sa akin lalo na pagtumatanda na tayo. Candidate na yung mental health mo kaya ang laking tulong sa akin nitong Pie Channel at 'Kung Saka-Sakali' sa aking mental health," said Ogie when asked why he agreed to the project.

Pinoy Interactive Entertainment or PIE celebrates its first anniversary with a brand new season of exciting programs, more face-to-face experiences, and new ways of winning that will capture the hearts of KaTroPIEs around the country.

Originally positioned as a TraDigital platform—an intersection of traditional and digital—when it launched last year, PIE enters its second year as an interactive and rewarding platform where people can increase their chances of winning while having fun by simply clicking on their mobile phones or engaging via the website.  With every click or pindot, our KaTroPIEs can earn points, win instant cash prizes, premium items, and gain meaningful connections and experiences.

As PIE celebrated its 1st PIEnniversary, it launched its new campaign "Pindot PIEnalo." "Pindot PIEnalo ka dahil kada pindot, PIEnalo ka more," as explained by Alex Asuncion, the PIE Channel Head. Pindot PIEnalo, loosely translates to the thrill of winning by a tap, press, or swipe on any device. It emphasizes the variety of ways everyone can win by interacting during PIE's different programs:

  • Through interactive game shows such as Sinong Manok Mo? (headlined by momshie and pop culture icon Jolina Magdangal together with “Ate Girl” Jackie Gonzaga and Eric Nicolas), Matching! Matching! (hosted by the energetic Nikki Morena and singer Kevin Montillano), Pak na Pak! (hosted by the fun PaKada, Vivoree, Aljon Mendoza, Anji Salvacion, Jeremy G., Igi Boy Flores, Sheena Belarmino, and Gello Marquez), and Ur Da Boss (headlined by comedian and momshie Melai Cantiveros, KaTroPIEs are able to win instant cash prizes and premium items.
  • Viewers that take an active part in the PIE experience by registering and referring others to PIE,  voting and sending reactions, as well as attending PIE's events in barangays, malls, and tourist spots around the country are eligible to gain online points. The KaTroPIE with the most points wins prizes such as cash, vouchers, premium items, and unique experiences through the channel’s various game shows.
  • KaTroPIEs also gain new experiences and meaningful connections through its new programs such as Kung Saka-Sakali (a reality show that tackles life’s what ifs headlined by the well-loved Ogie Diaz), Mga Kuwento ng Dilim (stories of the paranormal hosted by dramatic actress Charlie Dizon), The Chosen One (TCO): Kakatacute (an interactive piliserye show starring actress-singer Angeline Quinto and comedian Chad Kinis), TCO: Chugi Night (TCO: Kakatacute’s weekly elimination show hosted by actor Jameson Blake and reality show alum Karina Bautista), SPG: Saktong Pang Gabi (the naughty evening talk show top billed by comedian Negi and supported by MNL48’s Rans Rifol and actor-model Argel Saycon), Para Sa All (teen narrative headlined by Mutya Orquia this month). Innovations such as the recurring feature KatroPIE of the Month and PIE’s new website chat function were also designed to make the KaTroPIE experience better than ever.

The fun continues through on-ground experiences, bringing the Pindot PIEnalo experience closer to home and where KaTroPIEs are. Watch out for more details on the Grand PIE anniversary mall show slated for June 2023 and new editions of PIE-sta on Wheels in a barangay near you.
