CVO shot dead during funeral procession in Pangasinan

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – A member of a civilian volunteer organization (CVO) was gunned down by an unidentified man while attending a funeral procession in Barangay Polong Sur here on Tuesday, May 23. Police identified the victim as Delfin de Guzman de Vera, 52, CVO of Barangay Polong Sur. Investigation said the victim was driving a tricycle during a funeral procession to the Malasiqui town proper when he was shot. The gunman and his lookout fled onboard a motorcycle. Police said that De Vera died on the spot from multiple bullet wounds. The Malasiqui police have established dragnet checkpoint and chokepoint operations for the apprehension of the suspects.
