CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to the police in Laguna and Quezon on Tuesday, May 23.
Police Regional Office 4-A Director Police Brig. Gen. Carlito Gaces identified the surrenderers as Restituto Prado, alias “Nicole,” a member of the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Laguna-Ganap na Kasapi (GK); Jeffrey Abig, 27, political guide and a member of Platun Sol, Sub-Regional Military Area 4-B, and Valian Palenzuela, 51, of Platun Reymark operating in Quezon.
The Laguna 402nd Manuever Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4-A facilitated Prado’s surrender in the province and underwent co-optation and custodial debriefing.
Prado said he was recruited by “Ka Tashie,” who joined the Kalipunan ng mga Bagong Alyansang Makabayan in 2007, and was assigned to Macalelon, Quezon under the NPA Apolonio Mendoza Command.
Abig and Palenzuela surrendered to the 2nd Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company in Lopez, Quezon during the implementation of “Coplan: Greyhound.”
They turned over a carbine rifle with short magazine, 11 rounds of ammunition, a hand grenade, a homemade shotgun with 15 shells, a caliber .45 Remington M1911 with two bullets, and a caliber .38 revolver with seven bullets.
