2 dead as motorcycles, car collide in La Union

ROSARIO, La Union – A motorcycle driver and his back rider died while a Grade 11 student was injured in a collision on the national highway in Barangay Poblacion West here on Tuesday night, May 23. Police identified the victims as Jeric Rocapor, 31, of San Fernando City, this province, motorcycle driver, and back rider, Joseph Suyat, of Barangay Concepcion, this town. Investigation said the victims allegedly overlapped the lane and collided with two vehicles, a motorcycle driven by Grade 11 student Stanly Carpio, 16, of Barangay Udiao, here, and a tailing car at about 11:40 p.m. Due to the impact, the victims were thrown to the ground and sustained serious injuries. They were taken to the hospital where they were declared dead. Carpio sustained minor injuries and the occupants of the car were unhurt. Police said vehicles involved in the accident were heavily damaged with still undetermined cost.
