Who's your parent? Guanzon has reminder for SK bets

Here's a friendly reminder to Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) candidates from Rowena Guanzon. The P3PWD Party-list nominee said over Twitter that children of Barangay (village) chairpersons or captains shouldn't bother to run in the upcoming SK polls. "SK candidates, you are disqualified if your parent is incumbent Brgy Chair or kagawad (councilman)," Guanzon said. But she didn't end it there; Guanzon used the opportunity to point out what she really thought was wrong with the SK system. "May mga Kapitan kasi maaga tinuturuan ang mga bata maging corrupt (It's because there are captains who teach their children early to be corrupt)," said the former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner. The next Barangay and SK Elections (BSKE) will be held on Oct. 30, 2023.
