Several PH areas continue to record 'dangerous' heat indices
Data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, May 22, showed that twenty-eight monitoring stations across the country recorded heat indices that were considered "dangerous."
Aparri, Cagayan, and Infanta, Quezon had the highest daily heat indices on Monday, both at 46°C.
PAGASA defines the heat index as the measurement of how hot it feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature.
The weather bureau pointed out that a heat index ranging from 42°C to 51°C indicates impending “danger,” as “heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely,” and “heat stroke is probable with continued activity.”
