The San Juan City local government, together with the Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC), held a medical and dental mission in its barangays on Sunday, May 21, as part of its efforts in bringing quality healthcare and public service to its residents.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora spearheaded the medical mission together with Chinese General Hospital Director Dr. James Dy and other city government officials and medical personnel. Residents from four barangays in the city, namely, Onse, Tibagan, St. Joseph, and Isabelita benefited from the program.
"Bukod sa libreng check up at gamot para sa mga bata hanggang sa nakatatanda, nagkaroon din po tayo ng libreng bunot . Namahagi rin po tayo ng libreng eyeglasses (Aside from the free check up and medicines for children and the elderly, a free dental checkup and tooth extraction were also held during the mission)," Zamora said.
He added that the city government will also conduct medical missions in other barangays in the city.
Earlier, the city government and its City Health Department (CHD) launched a Supplementary Feeding Program with the theme “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Kinabukasan ng Makabagong San Juan” where part of the program was the blessing of the new Mobile Kitchen of the Nutrition Division, a modified vehicle that will be used to offer nutritious meals to San Juaneños.
According to Zamora, the feeding program aims to provide additional nutrition support to its residents, especially its children, using locally produced food and ingredients.
It also targets to develop proper knowledge, habits, and skills of San Juaneños through stimulated health and nutrition education and develop and maintain their nutritional status.
A total of 110 beneficiaries were given supplementary meals to support their nutritional needs.
