BACOLOD CITY – A motorcycle rider died while a family of five on board a tricycle were injured in a collision in Purok Bougainvilla, Barangay Enclaro, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on Sunday, May 21.

Injured were tricycle driver Reynato Ganancial, 45, and passengers Helen Cabales, 58, and three minors aged five, eight, and 12. Police Major Randy Babor, Binalbagan police chief, said Luhan’s allegedly speeding motorcycle overlapped on the lane of the tricycle and caused a collision. The injured were on their way home when the accident happened in a dimly-lit portion of the road, according to Babor. Babor said that Luhan was not wearing a helmet and was declared dead in a hospital. Ganancial and his passengers sustained minor injuries and have been discharged from a hospital, the Binalbagan police chief added. Babor said that Ganancial has been released from police custody following an initial settlement between both parties.
