The Parañaque City government recognized three local athletes who won in the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held in Cambodia on May 5 to 17.
Mayor Eric Olivarez led the awarding and recognition ceremony during the regular flag raising ceremony held at the Parañaque City Hall grounds on Monday, May 22.

Olivarez said the three athletes were Joseph Chua, who won a bronze medal for Men’s Taekwondo - 63kg; Inaki Lorbes, who won a gold medal for Mixed Relay Team Aquathlon; anD Sakura Alforte, who won a gold medal for Women’s Individual Kata event for Karate. The mayor congratulated the three athletes, all natives of Parañaque City, on their achievements. Olivarez told the athletes that the city government will continue to support all youth athletes in the city. The mayor, who was an athlete in tennis, emphasized the importance of sports to strengthen discipline and health among the youths.
