Mayor Joy urges QC parents to have their kids immunized vs diseases
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte called on parents in the city to have their children vaccinated against various diseases such as rubella, polio, and measles.
So every alley and street in our city is patrolled by our health workers to ensure that every child is vaccinated and protected from vaccine-preventable diseases)" she said.
The city government, led by the City Health Department, held the city-wide implementation of the Department of Health (DOH) “Chikiting Ligtas” vaccination program in Barangay Bahay Toro on May 2.
The program aims to protect children with ages zero to 59 months old against vaccine-preventable diseases.
The local government said health workers strategically set up temporary vaccination posts in markets and covered courts and conducted house-to-house inoculation activities for children in the most remote areas in the city.
The city government aims to vaccinate 230,347 children, with ages five years and below (0 to 59 months) with the measles vaccine, and 270,977 kids (0 to 59 months) with the oral polio vaccine this month.
It also encouraged parents to bring their children to the nearest health centers for them to get their free immunization shots.
Even though this Chikiting Ligtas vaccination activity will end this May, the local government will not stop to vaccinate and protect our children from diseases that can be prevented with the help of vaccines)” Belmonte said.
