Hundreds of voters flock early to Legarda Elementary School in Sampaloc, Manila

Hundreds of voters flocked early to Legarda Elementary School in Sampaloc, Manila for the Barangay Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

According to precinct watchers, the voters started lining up outside the classrooms as early as 6 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan arrived at the school at around 8:30 a.m. to cast her vote.

She also inspected the 96 classrooms used as polling facilities.

John Lindalin, BSKE faculty in-charge, said over 38,000 barangay voters from 34 city barangays are expected to vote in Legarda Elementary School, making it the largest polling station in Sampaloc.

Around 15 members of the Bureau of Fire Protection and Manila Police District (MPD) were deployed in the area. They also installed desks and booths for assistance.

Lindalin said the MPD and BFP have been in the area since Saturday ensuring safety measures in the school premises for BSKE.

He encouraged the voters to avoid littering inside the school and classrooms.

He also urged them to leave the school as soon as they finished voting to reduce the crowd.

Authorities said they have not yet received any complaints from the voters as of 10:30 a.m.
