Devotees of Saint Clement the Pope, the patron saint of the residents of Angono, Rizal, clad in red shirts, filled the streets of the town as the municipality celebrated the feast day of the saint.

Holy masses were celebrated at the start of the day followed by a grand fluvial procession with the "pagoda" or the float bearing the image of the fourth pope of the Catholic church being followed by boats bearing the devotees, on Laguna Lake on Thursday, Nov. 23.

The fluvial parade was followed by a parade on the streets of the town with the participants dousing each other with water.

Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon had earlier said that the festivities were the town residents' way of expressing their gratitude to the Lord through the intercession of the Italian saint, revered in this lakeshore town as the patron saint of

fishermen.

The procession was similar to the procession in honor of Saint John the Baptizer with people and spectators dousing each other with water.

Vice Mayor Gerardo Calderon also joined the procession along with Mayor Calderon and other local officials.

During the procession, a roving jail facility was also part of the parade to serve as a warning to drunkards.

The town is celebrating the Higantes Festival 2023 during the entire month of November.
