DOH records 12,426 new Covid-19 cases in the past week
The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday, May 22, said a total of 12,426 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in the past week with an average of 1,775 infections per day.

In its latest bulletin, DOH disclosed that the tally of new Covid-19 cases is 0.1 percent higher compared to the recorded cases from May 8, 2023 until May 14, 2023. “Sa mga bagong kaso, 87 sa mga ito ang may malubha at kritikal na karamdaman. Samantala, [meron] namang naitalang 13 na pumanaw kung saan 1 ay naganap noong May 8 hanggang 21 (Of the new cases, 87 of them have serious and critical illnesses. Meanwhile, there are 13 recorded deaths of which 1 occurred from May 8 to 21,” said DOH. Despite the World Health Organization’s (WHO) lifting of the Covid-19 global health emergency, the DOH is still urging Filipinos to not be complacent against the threat of the virus. “Magsuot ng best-fitted face mask at kung maaari, manatili sa well-ventilated na mga lugar. Sa oras na makaramdam ng sintomas, agad na mag-isolate (Wear best-fitted face mask and if possible, stay in well-ventilated areas. When you feel symptoms, isolate immediately),” it added.
