Parañaque LGU declares Monday as 'fruits, vegetables' day in city public schools
Parañaque Mayor Eric Olivarez said every Monday of the week is "fruits or vegetables day" in all public schools and day care centers in the city.
The mayor said the City Council has approved City Ordinance No. 16 declaring every Monday of each week as fruits or vegetables day in all public schools in the City of Parañaque.
According to the ordinance, which was sponsored by District II Councilor Maria Kristine Esplana, students must be encouraged to eat fruits or vegetables during their breaktime in schools every Monday.
The mayor believes that regular consumption of fruits and vegetables will give students good nutrition for better performance in schools.
He said the ordinance is another program of the city government to ensure that all public school students are healthy.
The mayor said all the 16 barangays in the city are supporting the ordinance and other regular programs for students such as distribution of vitamins to students, conduct of deworming, and supplemental feeding.
