VP Sara tells Malabon parents: Ensure children finish studies


Vice President Sara Duterte called on parents in Malabon to ensure that their children finish their studies, while keeping them away from illegal activities.

Speaking at the Tambobong Indakan Festival in Malabon City, Duterte pushed anew for quality education in combating social injustices, and making the youth pillars of the country’s development.

“Nanawagan po ako sa inyong lahat dito sa Malabon na magtulungan po tayo na paniguraduhin na ang ating mga anak ay pumapasok sa paaralan at makatapos ng pag-aaral (I am calling on all of you here in Malabon to help is in ensuring that our children go to school and finish their studies)," she said on Saturday, May 20.

"Ilayo po natin sila sa mga kriminalidad, ilegal na droga, sa NPA, mga terorista dahil ito po ay makakasira sa kanilang kinabukasan (Let's keep them away from criminalities, illegal drugs, from the New People's Army, terrorism, because these could ruin their future),” she added.

The Vice President also introduced other programs in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) aimed at bringing government services closer to the people and enabling Filipinos nurture their entrepreneurial potentials so they would live in better conditions.

She said there is an existing project that provides assistance to small and medium enterprises in villages.

"Meron po kaming Mag Negosyo ‘Ta Day kung saan nagbibigay kami ng P100,000 to P500,000 na perang tulong sa mga organisasyon ng kababaihan, ng LGBTQ, o mga PWD na interesadong magnegosyo (We have 'Mag Negosyo 'Ta Day' which provides P100,000 cash assistance to women organization, the LGBTQ, or to persons with disabilities who are interested to set up a business),” she said.

Duterte also mentioned the Peace 911 campaign, a program that campaigns family planning and responsible parenthood for parents and reiterates the importance of education for the youth.

The Vice President attended the festival which was one of the highlights of Malabon’s 424th founding anniversary.

The celebration also showcased dances depicting the culture and history of the city, and the opening of their “One Barangay, One Product” exhibit.
