Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva on Sunday evening, May 21 confirmed that he tested positive again for the coronavirus or Covid-19.
“Can’t believe it, that we got Covid-19 for the 3rd time,” Villanueva said in a message to reporters on Viber.
According to Villanueva, he started feeling unwell on May 18 and eventually decided to take an antigen test.
“I started not feeling well last Thursday which initially I thought was just because of my knee injury,” the senator said.
“I took an antigen test today because I started feeling worse with fever-like symptoms and unfortunately, I tested positive,” the lawmaker disclosed.
According to Villanueva, his activities during that week revolved only around the Senate and his home.
“But we got infected again. Nag-isolate na po muna tayo (We will isolate) while waiting for the results of our RT-PCR (reverse transcription – polymerase chain reaction),” he said.
Villanueva said he will still participate in the Senate’s committee and plenary hearings through online means.
“(We) will work from home tomorrow (Monday, May 22). We got three bills for third reading and hopefully we pass the TPB (Trabaho Para sa Bayan bill) tomorrow and other important measures,” he said.
