CITY of San Fernando, Pampanga – A former New People’s Army guerrilla and supporters have surrendered to authorities in Central Luzon, the Police Regional Office-3 reported on Sunday, May 21.
Their surrender was the result of continuous police- community peace-building activities and special intelligence driven by the Central Luzon police.
In Aurora, two former members of the underground mass organizations Bataris and Samahang Kabataan ng Aurora, “Ka Rubie” and “Bigboy,” turned themselves in.
They yielded a caliber .38 revolver, three ammunition, two 40mm high explosives, an improvised firearm called “deposporo,” detonating cord, blasting cap, and subversive documents.
In Bataan, former NPA rebel “Ka Elmer” surrendered and turned over an improvised shotgun, ammunition, and a 40mm high explosive.
Three members of Gabriela women’s party-list turned their backs on the organization and pledged allegiance to the government. They surrendered a caliber .38 revolver.
In Nueva Ecija, “Ka Leo,” 65, of Lupao surrendered and turned over a caliber .38 firearm. Twenty-three members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) and Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa (ALMANA) also withdrew their support to the communist movement.
