Classes in four schools in Quezon suspended after receiving bomb threats
MULANAY, Quezon – A bomb threat posted on social media of four schools in this town forced the municipal government to suspend the classes on Monday, May 22.
Authorities, however, found the bomb threat to be negative after searching the areas where the four schools were located. The four schools where the suspension of classes had already been announced are Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP-Mulanay), Bondoc Peninsula Agricultural High School, Mulanay Central School, and Santa Rosa Elementary School as posted on the Facebook page of Mayor “Kuya” Aris Aguirre here. Aguirre said that he requested the Philippine National Police-Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) to ensure the safety of these schools. According to Mulanay police chief Police Major Marlon Comia, the bomb threat was posted by “Ka Tonyo” in the Bisaya language on the Facebook page of the university student government of PUP-Mulanay. According to the post, there are bombs planted in schools. Authorities immediately responded and conducted an inspection in all corners of the school but no bomb was found. "We have not seen anything that indicates that there is a bomb but we have talked to the school, especially the PUP to be strict in enforcing their security protocols and not to ignore such a message," added Comia. The Mulanay police station is contacting the PNP-Anti-Cybercrime Group to determine the identity of Ka Tonyo.
