BACOLOD CITY – At least 13 houses were damaged by a tornado that struck Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, May 18.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Western Visayas has already distributed relief assistance composed of food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping, and kitchen kits to the affected families on Friday. Miranda said that those with damaged houses will receive P3,000 each, while P4,000 each to those whose houses were destroyed. He also pledged to give P1,000 to each family on top of the cash assistance that they will receive from the local government.
