Metro Iloilo, Guimaras sign MOA to boost economic recovery efforts


ILOILO CITY – The inter-agency alliance for Iloilo City, the neighboring towns in Iloilo province, and the island-province of Guimaras got a big boost in their economic recovery efforts.

This was following a signing of a memorandum of agreement by the members of the Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC) that would require the stakeholders to actively participate for the formulation and implementation of 2023-2024 policies.

The MOA was signed by MIGEDC co-chairpersons Mayor Jerry Treñas of Iloilo City and Gov. JC Rahman Nava of Guimaras. Signatories for the MOA also include Mayor Annabelle V. Samaniego of Sibunag town, Guimaras and Mayors Elizalde G. Pueyo of Cabatuan, Marina Luz S. Gorriceta of San Miguel, Vicente P. Jaen II of Leganes, and Dennis Superficial of Santa Barbara.

During the meeting, the mayors and the Guimaras governor discussed better policies in moving forward from the impact of Covid-19 and African Swine Fever (ASF).

MIGEDC was created in 2006 by an executive order by then President Gloria M. Arroyo.
It aims to formulate, coordinate, and monitor programs, projects, and activities for the acceleration of economic growth and development for Metro Iloilo and Guimaras.
