LOOK: Nicole Kidman wears a beautiful Chanel gown from her commercial in 2004

Absolutely breathtaking!

Take it from Nicole Kidman who came dressed in a vintage Chanel Haute Couture gown from about 20 years ago. If you think her gown is familiar—yes, you’re right!

It’s the same gown she wore to the iconic Chanel No. 5 commercial shot in 2004. Directed by Baz Lhurmann, the three-minute commercial shows Kidman running away from the paparazzi in a light pink silk tulle gown with a four-meter train. It also has pink ostrich feathers and a lot of silver crystals and sequins.

In an Instagram post made by Vogue France, Nicole shares more details about the dress, “So this dress was worn in the Chanel no. 5 commercial that Baz Lhurmann and I did with Karl who concocted this out of his head. I have the sketches when he was drawing it, then we fitted it.”

Nicole continues, “I remember fitting it repeatedly. And I think my deep deep sort of  love for Karl came through this time together because I knew him very very well. And sort of be able to honor him and wear this dress now for Chanel and show… I suppose these couture gowns last… the exquisiteness. And if you take care and love them, they are timeless. You should be able to wear the same thing twenty years later and it holds. There is whimsy to it and it’s so light as a feather and unbelievably comfortable, but it’s all hand made.”

When asked what she loves about the late Karl Lagerfeld, whom The Gala 2023 is celebrating this year. “He made me laugh. He was so funny,” she says. “I think right now to celebrate the history of fashion… The beautiful work that goes into these clothes to be honor and remembered, that’s what I love.”
