They always say that the best aunts get promoted to fairy godmothers.  Exactly what the Mayor of Bayambang, Pangasinan, Nina Jose Quiambao, has become since the day Maria Attarah Nayobi Jose was born. Exactly 18 years ago today.

I've always held women who embrace parenting in various ways in high regard. Although Antonio is the only child the Mayor Nina Jose and the former Mayor Cezar Quiambao have together, the former never ceased being a mother to her only sister's (Mommy Bonita) girls.

Attarah Jose, who was raised by her single mom, Bonita, grandparents, Philip and Claire Jose, and aunt Nina, made a formal entrance into society through an Enchanted Garden-themed debut party.  As Attarah thanked the individuals who contributed to making that night memorable, the audience watched in awe.  That evening, she exuded the grace of a strong, beautiful young woman who will always choose to remain optimistic and courageous in the face of life's many challenges.
