The University of Makati (UMak) earned a spot in the Global Top 200 Innovative Universities of the World Universities with Real Impact (WURI) list. UMak ranked 186th in the global list. It also placed 28th among the local universities in the country. UMak noted the significance of its inclusion in the list since it is the school’s first time participating in the global ranking. “This significant recognition establishes the position of our institution towards the transformation of the conventional education to strategic, innovative, relevant and responsive learning experience,” the university said in a statement. The WURI is a studied and evaluated compilation of universities The World's Universities with Real Impact (WURI) list evaluates the universities across the globe with “real contributions to the society, highlighting creative and innovative approaches of universities' research and educational programs.” Their ratings are based on six categories: industrial application, value-creating, social responsibility, ethics, and integrity; student mobility and openness, crisis management, and progress during the fourth industrial revolution. The top five universities in the list are Minerva University, Arizona State University, University of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Stanford University, all from the United States of America. Other Philippine schools in the list are Far Eastern University - Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation (FEU-NRMF) (56th); FEU Institute of Technology (FEU Tech) (77th) St. Paul University Philippines (81th); Central Luzon State University (86th); Batangas State University (90th); Leyte Normal University (96th); and Cebu Normal University (98th). Those among the 101 to 200 ranks are Biliran Province State University, Nueva Vizcaya State University, Mariano Marcos State University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Tarlac Agricultural University, Cordillera Career Development College, Cebu Technological University, Samar State University, University of Baguio, Saint Louis University, Central Philippines State University, University of Perpetual Help, Kalinga State University, University of the Cordilleras, Our Lady of Fatima University, University of Eastern Phillippines, Ifugao State University, Lyceum of the Philippines University Cavite, Western Mindanao State University, World Citi Colleges, Cebu Normal University Medellin, and the Universidad de Zamboanga.
