SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga – A 23-year-old man from Manila was arrested on Thursday, May 18, in Pasig City after he claimed 424 grams of suspected ketamine valued at P2.1 million that arrived at the Port of Clark on May 14.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Central Luzon identified the claimant as Danilo L. de Guzman, alias “John Vincent Cruz."
De Guzman was apprehended after he received the shipment from Poland misdeclared as rose candle during a controlled delivery operation on Kasikatan corner Kaginhawaan Sts., Barangay Manggahan.
“The parcel containing illegal drugs was declared as rose candle. Series of test indicated presence of illegal drugs that prompted us to launch controlled delivery operation,” the PDEA said.
Ketamine is a dangerous drug classified as hallucinogens. It can sedate, incapacitate, and cause short-term memory loss.
The PDEA-Central Luzon led the operation with the help of the PDEA-Clark Airport Interdiction Unit and Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark.
Suspect faces charges for violation of Section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165.
