Seven passengers have been rescued by authorities from a half-submerged motorboat off San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported Friday, May 19.
The PCG said that the passengers were onboard a motorbanca when it was suddenly hit by big waves which caused seawater to enter the vessel.
The incident occurred in the vicinity waters between White Island and Brgy. Pag-asa last Wednesday, May 17.

The PCG identified the rescued passengers as Bryan Mark Verden, 18; Rolan Tadia, 16; Niko Vinloan, 18; Mark Gonzales, 15; Martin Jacob, 12; Erick Naldo, 21; and Arvin Padua, 25.
The PCG said that the passengers were onboard a motorbanca when it was suddenly hit by big waves which caused seawater to enter the vessel.

The motorbanca came from Calintaan town en route to San Jose when the incident happened.
The PCG said that all the rescued passengers were in good physical condition.
Meanwhile, the motorboat was towed into the shoreline of Brgy. Pagasa by the search and rescue teams from the PCG and San Jose municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO).
