P8-M shabu seized in Naga City buy-bust


CAMP OLA, Albay – Authorities seized suspected shabu valued at about P8 million from a drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Naga City, Camarines Sur province on Friday morning, May 19.

Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office (PRO)-5 spokesperson, identified the suspect as John Joseph Yukim, 34, of Looban 6, Zone 4, Bayawas, Abella, Naga City.

Yukim was arrested by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit-5 (ODRDO-RPDEU-5) Team Naga City and Camarines Sur, City Drug Enforcement Unit and Police Station 1 Naga City Police Office (CPO), and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bicol in Zone 2, LCC Exit Terminal, Barangay Sabang at around 7:05 a.m.

"The subject person traded 200 grams of meth with the police poseur-buyer. Upon search and body frisk, another one kilogram of believed to be shabu was confiscated from his possession and control," Calubaquib said.

The suspect is now under the custody of Police Station 1 in Naga City while cases for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 are being prepared against him.

PRO-5 Director Police Brig. Gen Westrimundo Obinque said that PNP-Bicol will continue its efforts to suppress the flow of illegal drugs through sustained law enforcement operations.

"It shall also endeavor to reduce consumer demand for any kind of illegal drugs through preventive education and awareness drive in support to the BIDA program of the government," he said.
