Muntinlupa LGU congratulates National Book Awards winner 


The Muntinlupa City government congratulated a resident who won at the National Book Awards (NBA). 

The Muntinlupa City Council passed Resolution 2023-242 commending Dr. Raul Navarro for winning the best book of literary criticism/cultural studies (Filipino) at the 40th National Book Awards for his work "Musika ng Pananakop: Panahon ng Hapon sa Filipinas, 1942-1945."

"We are definitely proud of Dr. Raul Navarro, for his achievements bring pride and honor to Muntinlupa. But we are even prouder of his work and his immense contribution to Filipino culture," said Mayor Ruffy Biazon.

Navarro is a resident of Barangay Poblacion in Muntinlupa and is the chairperson of the Conducting and Chorale Ensemble Department of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, a board member of Klassikal Music Foundation of the Philippines and member of the National Research Council of the Philippines.

The National Book Awards recognizes exemplary contributions to Philippine literature and is organized by the National Book Development Board (NBDB).
