President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday said Ilocos Norte is "blessed with excellent wind energy potential" that has allowed the province to build and expand its wind mills to provide its residents electricity.
Speaking during the presentation of the 160-Megawatt Wind Farm in Pagudpud, Marcos said "it is really a blessing" for his province to be able to support requirements needed by wind mills to generate electricity as it is not something "that you can decide as a political decision."
Among considerations is the wind turbulence, the President said.
"It is God who decides where you put the wind farm," he said.
Marcos said he is "very happy" that Ilocos Norte is considered as a pioneer of wind power, and hopes to expand it to being a pioneer of solar power.
He then cited the need to "continue to work on all of the sources of renewable" because what is needed now in the market is clean energy.
"It is not just talking about climate change. It is not just talking about helping the renewables gain a bigger percentage of the energy mix," he said.
"It is also a practical matter. This is the way we do business today," he added.
