PGH Spokesperson Dr. Jonas Del Rosario, in an interview over DZMM TeleRadyo on Thursday, confirmed that the number of Covid-19 cases in PGH is rising anew.

“Totoo na unti-unti nanamang tumataas ang bilang ng mga pasyenteng naa-admit sa PGH na may Covid. Last week ay less than 10 patients lang ang aming nasa hospital, pero ngayon as of today, ay meron po kaming 60 [active] patients (It is true that the number of patients admitted in PGH is gradually increasing. Last week there were only less than 10 patients in the hospital, but as of today, we have 60 active patients),” said Del Rosario.

Most of these Covid-19 patients have comorbidity according to the expert. While some are vaccinated, the majority of them have yet to receive booster jabs. Asked about the severity of their infections, Del Rosario admitted that most of their patients have mild Covid-19.

“In general, patients entering PGH [have] milder Covid-19. Many of them are not necessarily admitted because as much as possible we do not admit mild infections,” he added in a mix of English and Filipino.

Due to the increasing number of infections, Del Rosario said they might be forced to add beds and rooms dedicated for Covid-19 patients again.
