23 former supporters of CPP-NPA-NDF take oath of allegiance to PH gov't
NUEVA ECIJA – Twenty-three members of two big groups in this province identified with the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) have withdrawn their support to the rebel movement.
Three were from the Alyansa ng Mamamayang Nagkakaisa (ALMANA) and 20 from the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid (LMB) which is affiliated with the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas.
They took their oath of allegiance to the Philippine government on Wednesday, May 17, and early Thursday morning, May 18.
According to Nueva Ecija police provincial director Col. Richard V. Caballero, the different police units and the 703rd Brigade of the Philippine Army facilitated the withdrawal of support and membership of three former members of ALMANA from the CPP-NPA-NDF in Barangay Calabasa, Gabaldon, Neuva Ecija.
Likewise, authorities conducted special intelligence operation that resulted in the voluntary withdrawal of support of 20 members of Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid which they affirmed in a peace rally in Barangay Manacsac, Guimba, Nueva Ecija.
The rebel returnees signed their oath of allegiance to the government. They will also undergo documentation.
