This despite a decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) to eliminate Covid-19 as a public health concern. Elmeir Apolinario, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer (CDRRMO), said the city government is still mandated and directed by the DILG to maintain the facility for quarantine purposes. The mega isolation facility has 320 rooms and was constructed during the third quarter of 2021. It is currently being monitored by personnel from the City Health Office and the CDRRMO. Apolinario said the Covid-19 isolation facilities in Cabatangan, Sinunuc, Lantaka, and Pasonanca have all been closed.
