Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel who wish to have their own homes would soon make their dream come true after they were included in the list of government housing priorities. This, after a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed between Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Rizalino Acuzar and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Officer-in-Charge Vice Admiral Rolando Punzalan Jr. “The MOA, which is the first among the country’s uniformed services, formalizes the inclusion of PCG personnel to housing program--initially targeting at least 2,000 Coast Guard personnel as beneficiaries,” said Acuzar. “This is one of the orders of our President, to include those in the uniformed service as a way of showing gratitude to their dedication to service,” he added. For his part, Punzalan welcomed the partnership and said the housing program for their personnel is a huge boost to the morale and welfare program of the PCG. “This is a big leap to the already robust collaboration between DHSUD and PCG,” said Punzalan.  Acuzar said he tasked Undersecretary Henry Yap to spearhead the collaboration with the Coast Guard. Apart from the PCG, DHSUD is also eyeing partnerships with the Departments of National Defense and the Interior and Local Government for the inclusion of soldiers, policemen, firefighters and jail guards.
