Motorpool division building inaugurated in Pasig City
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto led the inauguration of the motorpool division building at the Rescue Emergency Disaster (RED) Center on C. Raymundo Avenue, Pasig City on Tuesday, May 16.
The mayor was joined by Vice Mayor Robert “Dodot” Jaworski Jr., city councilors, local government officials, and members of the city’s motorpool division under the Office of General Services (OGS).

The building will serve as the central repair and maintenance facility for vehicles being used by the local government in order to ensure their operability and functionality before and after their deployment. This will help prevent delays or disruptions in services due to mechanical issues from various local government offices. The three-storey building features a repair and maintenance area for the vehicles, furnished with a two-car lift system, on the ground floor. The storage and records sections are located on the second floor and the administration offices and pantry are on the third floor. It also includes an outdoor workspace and two free areas at the roofdeck. Overall, the project cost less than P18 million, Sotto said. In addition to the building, the local government’s re-fleeting program to purchase more vehicles, particularly trucks for waste collection that is operated by the administration, is ongoing. By 2024, the local government also hopes to build up its inventory of spare parts for the vehicles.

Sotto said the local government has gradually become confident in streamlining its procurement processes, making it more transparent and corruption-free. “Abangan natin, sa tulong, kooperasyon, at suporta ng ating mga kawani ng lokal na pamahalaan at bawat Pasigueno, next one to three years, ‘yung mga malalaking proyekto, isa-isa makikita na natin (With the help, cooperation, and support of our local government constituents and every Pasigueno, let’s look forward to the big projects that we’ll see in the next one to three years),” he remarked. The mayor said many infrastructure projects have been planned for Sotto’s three-year term. Some of these include three prospective new school buildings in the city (pending approval from the Department of Education), improvement of facilities for the City Health Department (CHD), expansion of “Kanlungan ng Pasig” for the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and additional substations for local police and the fire department. Plans for a new headquarters for the fire and rescue department, and relocation of the city’s command center to the RED Center for the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) are also in the works in 2023, for implementation in 2024.
