BUTUAN CITY – A cache of explosives, including bomb-making materials, ammunition, and other subversive materials believed to be belonging to the CPP-NPA North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) was recovered by authorities in Barangay Hawilian, Esperanza, Agusan del Sur, a ranking police official reported late Wednesday afternoon, May 17.

Gen. Pablo G. Labra II. An electric blasting cap, an improvised blasting machine, 10 pieces of dynamite, five improvised tester, a uni-T multi-tester commercial, 230 rounds of caliber 5.56mm ammunition, and six rounds of caliber 7.62mm ammunition were unearthed by the operating troops composed of the personnel from Agusan del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial EOD and Canine Unit, and Provincial Mobile Force Company together with 1304th Regional Mobile Force Company, the region’s top police official told the Manila Bulletin on Wednesday. Other supplies also recovered were several booklets of CTG propaganda, three containers of rice, five keypad cell phones, and other subversive materials, he said. “This feat will surely result in another setback to the CTG adding to their already increasing losses due to the continuous aggressive efforts of the government,” added Labra. “I applaud the courage and bravery of the former CTG member for coming forward and giving us the vital information,” Labra said. He added that the discovery of these explosives was tantamount to preventing the rebels from carrying out their plans of committing atrocities and illegal activities in the region.
