Cargo truck driver killed, helper hurt in Zamboanga Sibugay road crash

ZAMBOANGA CITY – A 52-year-old driver died after the cargo truck he was driving plunged into cliff on the national highway in Barangay Lumbog, municipality of Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay province on Tuesday, May 16.
MOTORCYCLES hang at the back of a cargo truck which plunged and fell on its side while navigating the highway in Imelda, Zamboanga Sibugay on Tuesday, May 16.  (Ely Dumaboc) The victim was identified as Feliciano Saner of Batangas City. Police said the truck transporting motorcycles was descending a curved portion of the highway when the shift gear malfunctioned. As a result, Saner lost control of the vehicle which fell off a cliff. Saner was trapped in the driver’s seat and first responders had difficulty extricating him.  He later expired. Truck helper Ariel Tidalgo, 24, was injured and taken to the hospital for injuries. The truck was on its way to Zamboanga City from Cabuyao, Laguna when the accident happened.
