Col. Xerxes Trinidad, PA spokesperson, said Wednesday, May 17, that the Army leadership has encouraged the Army Signal Regiment (ASR) to further enhance and continue to capacitate its cyber competencies which will enable the military to triumph over enemies in the cyberspace – the fourth domain of modern warfare.
Lt. Gen. Romeo Brawner, PA Commanding General, delivered this message to personnel of the ASR during the unit's 12th founding anniversary in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City last May 15.
“I count on you to proactively perform your mandated task to determine and resolve potential cyber and communication issues, as well as efficiently satisfy the Army’s technical requirements on the battlefield and cyberspace,” said Brawner in a speech delivered by his representative, Brig. Gen. Moises M. Nayve Jr., commander of the PA Headquarters and Headquarters Support Group (HHSG).
During the anniversary celebration, the ASR also demonstrated its capabilities in conducting humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) operations, Command and Control Communications (C3), and Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) operations.
The new ASR Operations Center was also blessed while outstanding personnel and units were recognized during the event.
The celebration carried the theme “ASR@12: Responsive. Effective. Connected.”
Due to the emergence of technology and the internet, the military has since adapted new ways to fight emerging security threats in the country including hacking, espionage activities, and even cyber activities involving terrorism among others.
