Free entrance to Ayala Museum on International Museum Day

The Ayala Museum will open its doors to the public for free on May 20 in celebration of International Museum Day (IMD) 2023, the museum's administration has announced.

With IMD's theme this year focusing on sustainability and well being, the Makati-based museum said that visitors will have free access to its nine different exhibits, namely:

- Ayala Museum: In Microcosm
- Ceramics and Cultural Currency: Exchanges of Pottery and Prestige
- Globe Digital Gallery
- Gold of Ancestors: Pre-colonial Treasures in the Philippines
- Project Alima
- Skeins of Knowledge, Threads of Wisdom
- Diorama Experience of Philippine History

The management explained that the public may avail of the free entrance by registering on its official website and following these steps:

1. Visit this page https://www.ayalamuseum.org/home on May 19, 3:00 p.m., when the button to register will appear. To give a chance to more guests, reservations are limited to 2 per person.

2. Check your email for a copy of your response.

The museum also urged visitors to take note of the following reminders:

1. Check their email to confirm the timeslot they have registered. If they are 10 minutes late, their slot will be given to someone else. It is best to maximize the two hour time slot by planning which galleries you prefer to spend more time.

2. Registered individuals must be present on the day of the event and must present their email confirmation and a valid ID to claim their ticket.

3.  Wear comfortable clothes as the museum's main lobby can only accommodate a certain number of guests. Visitors may be asked to line up outside the venue while waiting for their turn.

4. Refrain from bringing bags or any items bigger than 11”x 14” inches. Umbrellas, tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, food and drinks, cigarettes, vapes, and shopping bags must be deposited at the museum's baggage counter.

International Museum Day is an international day held annually on or around 18 May, coordinated by the International Council of Museums (ICOM). The event highlights a specific theme which changes every year reflecting a relevant theme or issue facing museums internationally.

The celebration provides the opportunity for museum professionals to meet the public and increase their awareness about the challenges that museums face and the role museums play in the development of society.
