Angelina Jolie is on a mission to 'democratize the fashion industry' through Atelier Jolie
'We can all collect, appreciate, and be influenced by the designs of others,' the actress says. 'But the highest form of self-expression—and I believe the most fun—is to create for ourselves.'

Celebrities branching out in the fashion industry is nothing new. We’ve seen stars headline brand’s campaigns, walk their runways, and even curate a collection with them. But this time, one celebrity is using fashion for something more purposeful. And that’s Angelina Jolie.

The Oscar winner announces the coming of Atelier Jolie, a brand she founded that aims to “democratize the fashion industry” by giving people “access to a collective of emerging designers and master artisans.” The brand’s Instagram page just went live and now has 42,000 followers, and it continues to grow. “Atelier Jolie is a place for creative people to collaborate with a skilled and diverse family of expert tailors, pattern makers, and artisans from around the world,” Angelina posted on Instagram. “It stems from my appreciation and deep respect for the many tailors and makers I’ve worked with over the years, a desire to make use of the high-quality vintage material and deadstock fabric already available, and also to be part of a movement to cultivate more self-expression.”
Angelina’s new project encourages everyone to be creative when it comes to dressing. It asks everyone the question: Why simply buy the design of another person, when you can create yourself? Its premise is simple, you can create your own design, and through Atelier Jolie, you can connect with tailors and artisans that can bring your vision to life using leftover, quality vintage material and deadstock. “You will be able to repair or upcycle pieces from your closet you wish to revive, perfecting fit, breathing new life into what could have been thrown away, and creating quality heirloom garments with personal meaning,” the actress wrote on the brand’s website. *Atelier Jolie is set to make waves in the fashion industry later this year, particularly in Fall 2023.
