QC LGU urges residents to immediately report confirmed, probable Covid-19 cases
The Quezon City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (QCESU) has called on the city residents to immediately report probable and confirmed cases of Covid-19 to its office.
"We highly encourage our people to continue reporting cases so we can effectively reach out to them and provide necessary assistance. This collaborative effort will help us mitigate the spread of the virus and further reduce the number of cases," QCESU head Dr. Rolly Cruz said on Tuesday, May 16.
He stressed the importance of having Covid-19 data in order to facilitate, identify and isolate those who had close contact with positive patients.
Residents who are experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or runny nose are urged to isolate themselves for at least five days.
Cruz also instructed them to reach out to QCESU contact tracing team to avail of the free Covid-19 tests.
Wearing face masks is also strongly encouraged in crowded areas.
The public is advised to still adhere to minimum health protocols as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to increase.
The recent report from QCESU has shown a significant increase in the number of cases last week, with the figures rising to 1,057 total active cases.
From the 810 cases recorded last May 7, 287 additional cases were reported between May 8 to 14.
The average positivity rate has also risen to 29.9 percent from the previous 26.2 percent.
Three public hospitals in the city have also reported one to two severe and critical admissions to date.
Meanwhile, the city government reported that occupancy of hospital beds for Covid-19 patients remains low in number.
"We urge our QCitizens to make informed decisions regarding face masks. While the current national policy allows voluntary usage of face masks in indoor and outdoor spaces, we continue to advise the public to wear masks, especially in crowded areas where the risk of virus transmission is high," Cruz said.
He shared QCESU's contact numbers that residents can dial for COVID-19-related concerns: 8703-2759, 8703-4398, 0999-229-0751, 0908-639-8086, and 0931-095-7737.
Cruz said that residents can also contact them through their Facebook page.
