The southwesterly surface wind flow and frontal system will bring cloudy and rainy weather to some parts of the country in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday, May 16.
A frontal system, a weather system where cold and warm air meet, may cause cloudy skies and rains to prevail over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides in these areas during moderate to heavy rains.
Moreover, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over Ilocos Region, Cagayan, Apayao, Zambales, and Bataan due to the southwesterly surface wind flow.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
It advised the public to exercise caution during severe thunderstorms, as these may trigger landslides or flash floods, especially in areas that are vulnerable to these hazards.
As of Tuesday, PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area that may develop into a tropical depression.
