These days when Samsung is spoken, the first thoughts that come to mind are the flagship S series and the foldable devices. Maybe even some K-Drama shows where almost everyone is using the latest Galaxy flagship. It’s sometimes easy to forget that Samsung has a product list spanning an entire galaxy. This includes the Galaxy A54 5G. The Galaxy A54 5G is designed for those who are familiar with Samsung devices. It is that step before taking the leap toward the premium flagship devices. But by no means, the A54 is not a watered down version of the S series. The Galaxy A54 5G features a 6.4-inch FHD+ screen with 2340x1080. It has 120Hz to suit gaming needs and HDR10+ for vibrant colors. Also, it has 1000 nits of brightness, so you would have no problem using the A54 under harsh sunlight. Under the hood it is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 1380 processor, which gives it’s speedy performance for gaming and image processing. It also consumes less power to give the 5000mAh battery longer life. Samsung has mentioned the A54 5G is capable of two days of usage, and from my time spent with it, I can vouch for that. However, that’s with light gaming and video watching between idle hours. I was able to watch half of the third season of The Mandalorian in one day and still had plenty of battery for the rest of the day. Though I imagine if I watched the entire season, I’d be left with just enough to get home. Overall though, I am impressed with the battery life and I can easily see this phone lasting a little over two days with some light to medium usage. Storage comes at 256GB but is expandable up to 1TB via microSD card. Out of that 256GB, Samsung is transparent enough to say on the get go that the available for users will be 219GB. This is because some storage is used for OS requirements. RAM is set at 8GB, which for some users is enough to drive all their daily needs. It’s enough for gaming and productivity apps without showing signs of struggle. One of the highlights of Samsung this year is “Nightography.” When the environment is dark, turning up the camera will automatically switch to Night Mode, so you would spend no time in fine-tuning for the right mode to get your shot. The rear camera features 50MP+12MP+5MP. Front camera has 32MP, making it a solid contender for content creation and video calls, especially for important ones. The shots we’ve taken were much to our satisfaction, the colors were bright and sharp. Even with the night photography features, the cameras did fairly well. Though the best results often come with some creative uses of nearby lights. So it’s really up to you as the user to bring out the best from a smartphone. And that we’ve found that the A54 5G has plenty to offer for that. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is one tough contender. It’s sleek, having design features similar to the flagship S series. Its cameras are well-built and can take some incredible photos to add to your collection. The A54 5G gets two thumbs up on our book.
