Rizal LGU, private sector distribute educational equipment, solar panels to Dumagats
The Rizal provincial government, together with WAWAJVCO, a joint venture of Prime Infra and San Lorenzo Ruiz Builders and Developers Group, distributed educational equipment, solar panels, and a service vehicle to a school located in Montalban, Rizal and its surrounding Dumagat-Remontado indigenous people.
According to Rizal Governor Nina Ynares, the supplies and equipment were turned over to Casili Elementary School located in Brgy. San Rafael.
"Mabundok kasi at malayo sa kabayanan ang lugar ng Casili kaya napakahirap ang transportation nila at limitado ang options. Ang service vehicle ay hindi lamang makakatulong sa pag-aaral at pagtuturo sa nasabing paaralan kundi magagamit din tuwing may medical emergency (Casili is a mountainous and far-flung area making it extremely difficult to reach because of limited transportation. The service vehicle will not just help the students and teachers of the school, but also respond during medical emergencies)," Ynares said.
"Ang pagkakaroon naman ng solar panels ay magbibigay ng clean at reliable energy sa campus lalo na ngayon uso na naman ang brown out sa bansa (The installation of solar panels will provide tge campus with clean and reliable energy especially now that the country is experiencing power outtages)," she added.
On Monday, May 8, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) raised the "red alert" status in the Luzon Grid.
In its franchise areas, Manila Electric Company (Meralco) divulged that as of 5:00 p.m., more than 320,000 customers were affected by the power interruptions. There were no immediate data yet of rotational brownouts from the electric cooperatives (ECs) servicing other consumers in the Luzon grid.
Among the areas affected were parts of Rizal, Cavite and Laguna; and some cities in Metro Manila, including Las Pinas, Makati, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Paranaque, Pasig, Quezon City and Taguig.
