'Puto' maker shot dead in Pangasinan

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan – A 55-year-old “puto” (steamed cake) maker was shot dead in Barangay Bogaoan here on Sunday night, May 14. Police identified the victim as Benigno dela Cruz. Investigation said the victim was resting in front of his house when two men onboard a motorcycle arrived. One of them drew a gun and fired at Dela Cruz several times. Gunmen fled north and Dela Cruz was taken to the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital here where he was declared dead. A dragnet operation was conducted by the San Carlos City police for the arrest of the suspects.
