Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), led the send-off ceremony for the 188 policemen on Monday, May 15. Aberin said the deployment of additional policemen is part of the anti-criminality program dubbed “Point to Point (P2P) Patrolling: Pulis nga Abtik, Imong Amigo ug Alyado (An Alert Policeman, Your Friend and Ally).” "We are sending more ‘Able, Active, and Allied Bisdak cops’ in order to ensure that Central Visayas will remain safe and secured to live, enjoy and do business,” Aberin said. Aberin said the deployment of more policemen on the streets came after the PRO-7 recorded “significant reduction in crimes for the first quarter of this year.” He added that the 188 policemen will be deployed in strategic locations based on the weekly patrol plan of police stations for patrol duties in Cebu City. “A total of 188 uniformed personnel from the regional headquarters will flood the streets and intensify high police visibility and sincere police presence aligned with the five-focused agenda of PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acoreda Jr.,” Aberin said. Aberin added that the P2P patrolling will help materialize the mandate of PRO-7 leadership to go back to basics of proactive and consistent police work, which is to patrol the streets and reestablish police presence in the community.
