Parts of PH may experience more rain showers, thunderstorms — PAGASA
More rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over some parts of the country, particularly in the afternoon or evening, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Monday, May 15.
According to PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina, the southwesterly surface wind flow and the frontal system will be the dominant weather systems that may bring rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours.
He said the southwesterly surface wind flow will affect Northern and Central Luzon, including Metro Manila, and bring more frequent isolated rain showers and localized thunderstorms in these areas.
Badrina also said that the frontal system, which is a convergence of cold and warm air, will bring cloudy and rainy weather to Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
Those in these areas were warned against possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will continue to have hot and humid weather with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
PAGASA advised the public to exercise caution during severe thunderstorms, as these may trigger landslides or flash floods, especially in areas that are vulnerable to these hazards.
As of Monday, PAGASA has not monitored a low pressure area that may develop into a tropical depression, Badrina said.
